Trade and aid can mix, and it's not all beards and sandals

Article Abstract:

It is becoming increasingly widely recognized at national level in the UK that emergency aid is not the best way of ensuring long-term economic security for developing countries. It is vital to deal with the underlying structural problems of the international trading system and to ensure that local people are fully integrated into development schemes. Trading in a fair way with developing countries, as shown in the work of organizations such as Traidcraft, has now become increasingly widespread in the UK.

Other newspaper groups, such as Associated Press and News International, are also showing clear signs of shifting to Labour party views.
