Traffic warden on the information highway

Article Abstract:

Philips will play a key role in determining future developments on the information superhighway, according to Richard de Lange, head of Philips UK. The company will be particularly involved in managing traffic on the superhighway, and believes that it will be one of the leading players in the developing 'infotainment' sector. It is already making its CD-Rom interactive technology available, and is working with Sony on a new standards for CD-Rom material.

An unfortunate business

Article Abstract:

New newspaper Sunday Business has been the subject of fierce attacks from competitors, according to publisher and founder Tom Rubython. Other newspapers were determined that Sunday Business should not be published, and this meant that Rubython found it very hard to obtain funding. Some observers feel that there is no real demand for an all-business weekend newspaper, but Rubython emphasises that the paper has not yet collapsed.

However, the industry is going through a period of rapid change, and the future remains uncertain. Experts disagree about which companies and sectors will grow stronger, and it is likely that no single company will lead the market for very long.
