Transplants? Pigs might fly

Article Abstract:

A committee chaired by Professor Ian Kennedy of King's College, London, England, has recently approved animal-to-human transplants, or xenotransplants, on ethical grounds. However, concerns were expressed about certain scientific issues, especially the danger of genes coding for retroviruses passing to humans receiving an animal organ. The UK government has accepted that there should be a delay in going ahead with xenotransplants until further information is obtained on this matter.

Sorry, but there is no simple truth

Article Abstract:

Journalists are always very keen to force scientists to make definite statements about issues of public importance. This approach is not welcomed by scientists, who prefer to qualify the findings of their research and warn that there are very few scientific certainties. There is a strong tendency among ordinary people to seek truths which do not really exist, and journalists respond to this by presenting as near-certainties things which are actually not at all certain.
