UK: DIVISIONS MERGED BY KINGSTON COMMUNICATIONS

Article Abstract:

As part of a major restructuring move, telecommunications company Kingston Communications is merging seven divisions into two. The first will be national business-to business services and will deal with the selling of voice and data services to business customers. It will be launched in December 2000 and will be headed up by Jane Hannah. The second unit will encompass all the network infrastructure of Kingston including the Torch Telecom network. Kingston's house broker ABN Amro predicts the reshuffle could raise expected earnings by 10% to GBu 5mn.

UK: NEED FOR STRESS MANAGEMENT AT WORK

Article Abstract:

More employers need to take proactive measures to reduce stress in the workplace if they want to reduce the impact on the company's performance, according to a report from business telecoms company Energis. Although one-quarter of the senior managers interviewed for the report said they suffered from attacks of stress every day, only 3% said their employer had made efforts to discuss the problem, whole only 14% had been on stress management courses. Ill-health, poor concentration and tiredness were the effects of stress.

UK: WORKPLACE BULLYING COSTS GB[pound] 2BN A YEAR

Article Abstract:

Bullying at work costs UK businesses GB[pound] 2bn a year. Around 19mn working days are lost because workers suffer verbal or physical threats according to a report from the London Chamber of Commerce. Overworked managers are most likely to bully and many employees are too afraid to make formal complaints. High staff turnover, absenteeism, minor illnesses and poor work performance are signs of companies who have bullying of employees.
