UK: RAIL MAINTENANCE CONTACTS FOR JARVIS

Railtrack has warded contacts worth GB[pound] 250mn over five years to facilities management group Jarvis for rail maintenance work. Jarvis will work on lines in the north of the UK, including the Tyne & Wear Metro extension.

UK: GO-AHEAD BID REJECTED BY CHILTERN RAILWAYS

Article Abstract:

Bus and train transport operator, Go-Ahead, has had its bid for the Chiltern Railway franchise rejected, supposedly because of its subsidiary, Thames Trains, and its connection with the Paddington rail disaster. M40 is said to be the preferred owner of the licence but news of the chosen bidder is to be announced to the stock exchange this morning. M40 has been awarded a 20-year extension on its London to Birmingham franchise in return for the company investing GB[pound] 400mn in stations, tracks and trains.
