Hemp beer hits Britain - but you won't get stoned

Article Abstract:

People aged between 18 to 32 who attend fashionable metropolitan drinking establishments are the main target market for a new beer product, called Turn, which contains hemp flavouring. The beer is made by the German firm Bier Company and has a 4.9% alcohol content. The type of hemp used to flavour the beer has only a very small cannabis content, meaning that to get high a person would have to drink 3000 bottles.

Article Abstract:

The sale of various UK lager brands by Interbrew of Belgium following its acquisition of Bass in June 2000 could attract interest from a number of buyers. Carlsberg of Denmark, which lost out in the race to acquire Bass, is likely to be a key contender for the brands such as Grolsch and Tennent's. Other potential bidders include South African Breweries or Heineken of the Netherlands.
