US: CHIP WORKERS START LEGAL CHALLENGE

Article Abstract:

Former employees of the National Semiconductors factory in Strathclyde have taken their first steps towards claiming US$ 100mn in damages in the US courts. Around 70 workers are planning to sue the US-based company, claiming that toxic chemicals, solvents and gases used in manufacturing the microchips have caused cancers and other illnesses. According to Grace Morrison of Phase Two, a support group, the workers were not given adequate protection from the chemicals, despite knowledge of their toxic properties.
