Taliban prepare to unleash their deadliest weapon

Article Abstract:

Afghanistan's Taliban regime and Pakistan have almost eliminated poppy growing in the areas they control. However, the Taliban has done nothing to prevent the refining and export of heroin from large stockpiles. There could be a sharp rise in poppy growing in Afghanistan if the Taliban collapses.

Taliban troops have fled from Kabul, Afghanistan, which is now in the hands of the opposition Northern Alliance. Large parts of the rest of the country have also fallen to the Northern Alliance.
