US retailers invade British high streets

Article Abstract:

British stores such as British Home Stores, Mothercare and Storehouse employ American senior executives because they are professional and trained in strategic thinking. American retail trainees have a defined career structure and learn management skills while gaining practical experience, thus developing faster than their British counterparts. Informal management styles are popular as staff achieve tasks if they exchange ideas. Americans have skills in team motivation, give staff autonomy and promote them earlier.
