University challenged

Article Abstract:

Oxford University's 28 college admission tutors are soon to vote on changing the university's selection criteria to allow more applicants from state schools to be admitted. At present, 60% of succesful candidates enter the university through the entrance exam, with the rest entering through A-level results and an interview. Opponents of the entrance exam claim that it discriminates against applicants from comprehensive schools, while its supporters believe that the exam is the best way to assess the ability of the applicant.

A marriage made in white space

Article Abstract:

The new Calvin Klein store on Madison Avenue is designed to act as a retreat from the chaos of life outside. It is light, spacious and extremely quiet, and aims to come across as a sensual haven. It promotes a sleek, uncluttered lifestyle, and the simplicity of the decor reflects this approach. It has none of the decorative features usually associated with retail stores, and does not even have any escalators.
