Israelis trample on corpse of peace

Article Abstract:

The Middle East peace process has encountered serious difficulties in 1998. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed the Wye Agreement with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in Oct 1998, but formally declared it suspended shortly before Christmas 1998. He does not intend to negotiate with the Palestinians any more, and will also continue to build settlements on Arab land, as well as destroying Palestinian homes. US allies in the Middle East are now predicting that there will be great tension there in 1999.
