Very sexy. Big mistake

Article Abstract:

European Union environment ministers are soon to decide on whether to introduce a ban on the leghold trap, a device which has been strongly criticised by animal welfare campaigners. This comes at a time when the European fur trade is experiencing a revival, with wealthy young women choosing to wear fur and not being intimated by anti-fur campaigns. A ban on the leghold trap would in fact have very little impact on the fur trade in Europe, and many increase the amount of animal suffering, as there would no longer be any incentive to reform trapping methods.

A fountainhead of emptiness

Article Abstract:

The Hayward Gallery in London, England, is holding an exhibition of the work of video artist Bruce Nauman. This exhibition shows no creativity and little purpose, but gives an interesting insight into the levels of pointlessness that art reached in the 1960s. It is mainly retrospective, being made up of a series of video installations which mainly focus on faces closely observed while the mouths speak repetitively. Most of the material appears to have been captured on surveillance camera. Other exhibitions are also discussed.
