We should not break the law in order to impose the law

Article Abstract:

It is important to remember that Nato military action against Serbia is not actually legal. It can be argued that four international laws have been contravened, including Nato's own charter. Military action against Serbia has been justified for humanitarian reasons, but real humanitarian assistance comes in the form of food, medical supplies and aid workers, not air attacks. An extremely significant initiative is being undertaken without national governments holding an open debate on the issues involved with ordinary people.

These heroes died so that we can live our humdrum lives

Article Abstract:

Wing Commander Forest (Tommy) Yeo-Thomas GC, who was one of the most highly respected British agents who worked in France during the second world war, placed himself in great danger. He was subjected to many acts of torture by the Germans after he was captured on his third mission, but did not reveal the names of any of his associates. Some observers indicate that he was addicted to danger, but linking courage with the pursuit of some form of 'high' serves to diminish his achievements.

Was Guy Fawkes a terrorist?

Article Abstract:

The attempt by Guy Fawkes to blow up the Houses of Parliament in Nov 1605 can be regarded as the most serious terrorist scheme in UK history. The fact that this event is still marked with bonfires and fireworks shows that people will always seek to defend their rights.
