What's a fighting vehicle, then?

Article Abstract:

The defence exhibition in Farnborough, England, covers a wide range of small and large military equipment. The vast majority of those attending are representatives of foreign armies, air forces and navies. However, a small number of those attending may have some reservations about the ethical aspects of the equipment on display. Most companies prefer to avoid this issue, stating that it is the duty of the UK government to decide on the human rights record of the countries to which equipment is export. The world market for defence equipment is growing weaker, and UK manufacturers rely heavily on government support.

Brown puts poor at top of agenda

Article Abstract:

All public spending decisions in the future must be focused on reducing poverty, according to a policy document produced by UK Chancellor Gordon Brown. This document will act as the basis for the Labour party's manifesto at the next general election. Attention is concentrated on improving conditions for the poorest, rather than on making tax cuts for the middle classes. The document emphasizes that the Labour party is still firmly committed to the principles on which the welfare state was created in the 1940s.
