There has been growing emphasis over recent years in the UK on promoting the commercial elements of research work undertaken in universities. Commercialization brings much-needed funding for universities, as well as encouraging students to undertake postgraduate degrees.

Has the postgraduate bubble finally burst?

The prospects for the recruitment of postgraduate students in the UK are discussed. It is suggested that the high level of debt among graduates will make postgraduate study seem less attractive, as graduates are unwilling to incur more debt.
