When fashion is no excuse at all

Article Abstract:

Model Kate Moss, 19, appeared in Vogue magazine to feature lingerie, but her thin, child-like appearance attracted many complaintsof sexualisation of children. She has a gentle face and a waif-like body, making her seem about 13. The photographs appear to some to show a passive, innocent child, but the stark background is not provocative. Editor Alexandra Shulman sought freshness for the fashion pictures by photographer Corinne Day.

It's still the same old story

Article Abstract:

The 1995 New York fashion show has reflected the widespread trend among US fashion designers to stick to safe, acceptable designs. Unlike European fashion shows, there have been no clothes which have shocked. This makes US fashion design very monotonous, but also ensures financial success for designers, as the clothes are of a style which ordinary people will buy.

We'll meet again on the design front

Article Abstract:

Fashion designers responded rapidly to the end of the second world war, realising that there would be a lot of pent-up demand. However, fabrics were still in short supply, and this dictated short skirts and close fitting jackets. Many of these styles are now being copied by modern fashion designers.
