Why journalists disgust me

Article Abstract:

A politician expresses his views about journalists. His belief that journalists seek to exert power over colleagues they regard as their inferiors is discussed, and consideration is given to journalists' feelings of insecurity. Journalists' persistent use of sex to attract readers is investigated, along with journalists' attitudes towards celebrities. The way in which the actions of journalists can destroy an individual's life is also discussed.

The Lady could have returned

Article Abstract:

The recent publication of the second volume of the memoirs of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher has brought her once again to public attention. She details her views on current affairs, showing considerable clashes with the policies of John Major's administration. In some ways, she still gives the impression of being able to step in as prime minister again, as long as she is prepared to keep silent about some of her opinions.

Censorship: how the other half lies

Article Abstract:

Censorship by government is only justifiable in two specific circumstances. One is when it is in the interests of national security, in cases where people's lives would be at risk if certain military secrets, for example, were revealed. The other is in the case of commercial confidentiality, preventing an investor obtaining prior knowledge and using this to make a fast profit.
