Footballers Lee Bowyer and Jonathan Woodgate are standing trial for an alleged attack on Sarfraz Najeib, a 20-year-old Asian student. Prosecutors claim that the alleged victim suffered a fractured leg, nose and cheek, as well as being bitten by one of Woodgate's friends.

Are all murders the same?

Custodian sentences for murderers in the UK are on average two years too long, according to a report from the Sentencing Advisory Panel. The panel believes that it is now time to reassess the tariff element of the life sentence for murder and to recognize that not all murders are the same.
