Why teenage is American

Article Abstract:

Filmmakers in the UK have never really been good at producing films featuring and aimed at teenagers. Generally, their efforts to appeal to teenagers have been merely embarrassing. This means that US filmmakers have been able to flood the UK market with teenage films. British teenagers seem to respond well to the cruel, divisive world portrayed in US films. However, US teen culture is essentially alien to audiences in the UK, and this means that they can enjoy its rituals without having to endure the consequences of these rituals.

Her face didn't fit

Article Abstract:

Actress Judy Campbell recounts that she always felt that she did not belong to the complicity between people involved in film. She became a star through film, but still regards herself as very much a theatre actress. The film she remembers with greatest fondness is 'Green for Danger,' released in 1946. She enjoyed this film because she felt that she was fully aware of what was supposed to be achieved. She is currently appearing in a revival of the Vivian Ellis musical 'Bless the Bride.'
