The brothers for the workers

Article Abstract:

Union members are attracted by legal services for non-work matters. Robin Thompson & Partners and Brian Thompson & Partners deal with injury at work. Industrial deafness and vibration white finger for pneumatic drill operators are frequent personal injury claims. Trade union legal officers send work to independent firms rather than in-house lawyers. It is a much faster system than legal aid. The Thompsons offer cheap services for conveyancing and will-making.

Training a paralegal army

Article Abstract:

A forthcoming conference will look at the views of the legal profession and educationalists on the issue of 'paralegals,' and will aim to establish a firm definition of what the role of the paralegal actually involves. An educational framework will be developed, probably reaching NVQ standards, ensuring more standardised training for legal support staff.
