'You're the people who are looking for sorcerers? Well, here I am.'

Article Abstract:

There are still large numbers of traditional healers in rural parts of France. Their powers have passed down through many generations, sometimes from family members and sometimes from complete strangers. Many of them are unwilling to discuss their activities, and they are wary of revealing the magic words they use in their traditional prayers. The demand for traditional healers is rising as people lose faith in modern medicine, but their numbers are actually falling as France becomes more urbanized.

France ensnares foreigners in baffling tangle of red tape

Article Abstract:

French bureaucracy creates unnecessary problems for foreigners seeking residency, even when they are from elsewhere in the European Union (EU). A residency permit can take two months to be printed, after a long time spent visiting the various offices with the necessary documents to obtain the permit. Birth certificates have to be translated by accredited experts who can take months to complete a simple short translation, because they are too busy in their role as expert translators.
