A Deadly Double Life

Article Abstract:

The findings of a group of scientists on the process of apoptosis is presented. The activities in multicellular organisms from insects to humans generally expell injured, infected or unnecessary cells. This process is explained, along with the technique of programmed cell death. The involvement of the tRNA synthetase in this process is analyzed.

p34(cdc2) and apoptosis

Article Abstract:

The contention that apoptotic cell death is a form of mitotic catastrophe is disputed. The serine-threonine kinase p34(cdc2) is active in some forms of apoptosis, but not essential for the process in general. A reply is included.

A Myc-induced apoptosis pathway surfaces

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that the cell surface interactions of FAS (CD95) with its ligand, FasL (CD95L), influences c-Myc-induced cell death in fibroblasts. The c-Myc-dependent cell pathway surfaces via Fas-FasL interaction.
