A two surface plasticity model with bounding surface softening

Article Abstract:

A two surface plasticity model with bounding surface softening predicts the increased hardening for out-of-phase cycling in a natural way. Modeling of the directional dependent softening explains most of the additional hardening behavior observed during non-proportional cycling. During uniaxial cycling, bounding surfaces contract when the yield surface is translating out of contact. During out-of-phase cycling, softening does not occur because yield surface is in contact with the boundary surface. Softening occurs in proportional cycling and reduces the saturation stress level.

Viscoplastic behavior and modelization of an austenitic stainless steel (17-12 SPH) at high temperature (T=600 degrees C), under in and out of phase cyclic tension-torsion loading

Article Abstract:

The viscoplastic response of an austenitic stainless steel subjected to thermal and in and out of phase cyclic tension-torsin loadings is investigated. Experiments are conducted wherein specimens obtained from stainless steel sheets are dynamically tested using a Schenck hydraulic tension-torsion machine at a temperature of 600 degress centigrade. Results indicate that the loading rates have considerable effects on the unidirectionaland bidirectional cyclic behavior of the test specimens.

An analysis of the thin-walled torsion specimen

Article Abstract:

The thin-walled torsion specimen used for studying the deformation behavior of materials is evaluated using a finite element model. The specimen is discretized using a single slice mesh generated by means of the ABAQUS finite element program. This single slice model is then compared with a complete circumferential mesh. Results show that the torsion specimen exhibits uniform shear stress and plastic strain in the gauge section.
