Analysis of interfacial failure in particle-filled elastomers

Article Abstract:

Nonlinear behaviour is often seen in particulate composites, usually due to cavitation or tear, or interfacial particle debonding or 'dewetting'. There has been a long standing question about how to represent such damaged-material behaviour for finite element analyses. The time-independent problems of the dewetting process was pursued, incorporating the results into a wider finite element analysis, as well as considering the formation and growth of voids and their interaction in high strain gradients.

The numbers of elastic properties and failure parameters for fiber composites

Article Abstract:

A coordination between five elastic properties of fiber composites and the numbers of failure parameters exists under certain conditions. These conditions need a degree of anisotropy suitable to polymeric matrix composites. The interrelationship between the fiber composites and the failure parameters is useful in determining other properties of typical fiber composites.
