The seven regional telephone companies are searching for a buyer for Bellcore because it no longer meets their research and development needs. The Baby Bells hope Bellcore will be purchased and run as an independent company, performing research for many different clients.

NSF hands over the Internet...

Article Abstract:

The National Science Foundation will turn the operation of NSFnet over to the private sector in Apr 1995. The step is expected to raise Internet fees in the short term. NSF's next network project is the very high-speed Backbone Network Services.

NRC lets a little sun shine in

Article Abstract:

The NRC has adopted new rules allowing more public access to its meetings following court challenges to its traditional secrecy. However, the new guidelines do not meet the requirements for openness of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
