The increasing amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in lake and reservoir sediments may be caused by the growth of automobile emissions encouraged by urban sprawl.

Benzo(a)pyrene, benzo(a)anthracene, and dibenzo(a,h)anthracene, emissions from coal and waste tire energy generation at atmospheric fluidized bed combustion (AFBC)

Article Abstract:

The emission of carcinogenic PAHs into the atmosphere from the burning of coal and tires for energy production is measured for different combinations of the fuels during atmospheric fluidized bed combustion. The distribution of benzo(a)anthracene, dibenzo(a,h)anthracene, and benzo(a)pyrene byproducts is graphed for coal burning alone, coal burning with tire, and tire burning alone.
