Beyond water witching

Article Abstract:

Time-domain electromagnetics (TDEM) has shown excellent depth penetration, fast data accumulation, and strong computer modelling abilities for interpretation and data representation in locating potential aquifers in the 100-1,000 ft range. A project carried out on the upper Snoqualmie river basin and funded by a consortium of 15 water districts and the Seattle water department has proven that TDEM is cheaper, simpler, faster and more accurate method than conventional methods.

Beyond push-button GPS

Article Abstract:

Civil engineers are confronted with the revolutionary technology of Global Positioning Systems (GPS). This technology is an all-weather navigation system that involves satellites which relay data that are processed by individual receivers. This provides significant use for surveyors, navigators and civil engineers. Many engineers will need to comprehend the theory of GPS as well as its significance and manner of applications.
