Article Abstract:

Recent surveys of the blue whales have yielded different population counts. Timing of the surveys could have effected numbers available in a given area. Killing of the blue whale was banned in 1968 but in the previous 20 years, about 338,000 had been killed, putting them on the endangered species list.
