Brain center linked to perfect pitch

Article Abstract:

Gottfried Schlaug and Helmuth Steinmetz found that the planum temporale, a sound-processing brain site, is much larger in the left cerebral cortex of musicians with perfect pitch than in other musicians and nonmusicians. Previous studies have found some musical function in the right cortex.

AIDS researchers, activists fight crisis in clinical trials

Article Abstract:

AIDS activists and drug regulators worked on solving the crisis in AIDS drug development. Problems include AIDS patients lying to get into clinical trials, then dropping out or using non-prescribed drugs during the trial, and the need for quick, reliable indicators of treatment efficacy.
