Building public knowledge: collaborations between science centers, universities, and industry

Article Abstract:

Over the past forty years Science, centers have emerged as a specialized medium for communicating science. In an increasingly scientific and technology world and pride themselves of their ability to bridge the intellectual and affective gap between the scientist and non-scientist, in the process building awareness and appreciation of the role of science in our everyday lives is discussed.

Science centers as learning laboratories: experiences of Heureka, the Finnish Science Center

Article Abstract:

Development of the premise that science center education is a form of informal learning and the growth of modern science centers can be traced to the resurgence of interest in the West. The informal learning sources such as science centers seem to have stronger impact on their academic career choices that has hitherto been realized was reveled in a survey taken among university students.

Survival of science centers in New Zealand: what we can learn

Article Abstract:

The necessary critical mass of visits to science centers may not be easily attainable due to inadequate funding, and this affects the very survival of science centers in regions of low population. Science Alive! a science center in New Zealand, provides a case study of how these constraints can overcome through the implementation of some bold initiatives.
