Chemical mechanism of inorganic oxidants in the TiO2/UV process: increased rates of degradation of chlorinated hydrocarbons

Article Abstract:

A study has been conducted to analyze the mechanism by which oxyanion oxidants serve as efficient electron acceptors in TiO2/UV oxidations using the photooxidation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) in suspensions of Degussa P25 as model. Oxyanion oxidants were shown to increase the photodegradation of 4-CP, but showed no photoreactivity toward 4-CP in the presence of HSO5- and MnO4-. Three concurrent degradation pathways were also observed when CIO3- was used as the oxidant.

Structure-activity relationships of mineral dusts as heterogeneous nuclei for ammonium sulfate crystallization from supersaturated aqueous solutions

Article Abstract:

This study was used to examine the structure-activity interactions of mineral dusts as heterogenous nuclei for ammonium sulfate crystallization from supersaturated aqueous solutions. The article is broken down into an introduction, a discussion of the experiment and a discussion of the results. Various tables and graphs accompany the article.

Application of standardized quality control procedures to open-path fourier transform infrared data collected at a concentrated swine production facility

Article Abstract:

This study sought to measure the concentrations of ammonia, methane and like atmospheric gases. Researchers utilized the open-path Fourier transform infrared (OP/FT-IR) spectrometry method. The testing was carried out at a swine production facility.
