Clinton picks his science adviser

Article Abstract:

President-elect Clinton has chosen Office of Technology Assessment Dir John Gibbons to be his White House science advisor. Gibbons is expected to work closely with vice president-elect Al Gore in his new post since Gore will be in charge of much of the new administration's science policy.

Clinton's technology policy emerges

Article Abstract:

Clinton has indicated that 10% of the proposed $100 billion additional government spending between 1993 and 1997 will go to science and technology programs, although cuts in these programs will also be made. The impact of Clinton's plan on several research projects is discussed.

Jack Gibbons: plugging into the power structure

Article Abstract:

Jack Gibbons forecasts a re-evaluation of federal policy toward technology and basic science and warns that researchers should not expect previous levels of funding to be continued. Funding for the space station and the Superconducting Super Collider has not yet been decided.
