Article Abstract:

The system identification (SI) algorithms that are used in sensory neurophysiology are discussed. The SI experiments have shown that the current models provide a good description of the functional properties of peripheral sensory neurons and also provide a quantitative framework for integrating findings across many stages of cortical processing.
