Congress to begin work on TEA-21 compromise

Article Abstract:

The Parliament House on 2 April 2004 passed the Transportation Equity Act to provide dollars 275 billion to fund transportation safety projects over a six year period. However, the president of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, Mr. Pete Ruane, states that the proposed amount is insufficient.

Congress, White House focus on nation's competitiveness

Article Abstract:

The planning of various initiatives in the Congress and White House, with a view to maintain competitive edge in the filed of science and technology, are discussed. For this purpose, funding has increased for educational programs in mathematics and science and to facilitate scientific research.

Congress heeds calls for levee safety legislation

Article Abstract:

The introduction of many legislative bills in the Congress, pertaining to levees inspection and levee safety program, are discussed. The programs in the bills reflect the extent to which the levees in the nation posed a threat to public safety and warranted greater attention.
