Core-modified expanded porphyrins: new generation organic materials

Article Abstract:

New and powerful synthetic methods, have facilitated the availability, of expanded porphyrins in affordable quantities, in general and core modified systems in particular. In this account, it is not just the details of the synthetic methodologies that are summarized, but also the studies that focus on the structural diversity, aromaticity and anion and cation binding abilities of expanded porphyrins.

Reversible binding of Oxygen to aromatic compounds

Article Abstract:

A short description is provided, on the present knowledge of endoperoxides: preparation and thermal and photolytic decomposition, with a special emphasis on the structural requirements to favor cycloreversion. The profitable use of this property, in the development of highly reversible photochromic systems, and of specific sources or traps of oxygen in aqueous media is also described.
