Article Abstract:

California holds very high chances of being by struck by a tsunami. Though the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Ocean Service has thirteen continuously operating tide stations that are capable of producing real-time data for tsunami warning, there are no exact ways to prevent it from happening. Recent developments in the modeling of tsunami waves from recent offshore mappings of the Santa Barbara Channel and other locations indicate that the mechanism and economic effect of an undersea landslide in the vicinity of Los Angeles could lead to a tsunami occurrence.

Big screen debut

Article Abstract:

This article describes the newly constructed flat-plate fish screen for the protection of juvenile salmon on the Sacramento River, California. The new weir structure maintains water levels and flow rate in the fish screen. The structure is built using a sheet pile cofferdam, which also serves as a foundation.

A new inverted siphon for the Ojai Valley under the Ventura River was installed that offered a relatively dependable and affordable method. It required only gravity to operate and involved no energy costs.
