Design and synthesis of new classes of heterocyclic C-glycoconjugates and carbon-linked sugar and heterocyclic amino acids by asymmetric multicomponent reactions (AMCRs)

Article Abstract:

Four classes of new bioactive molecules were designed and synthesized by asymmetric multi-component reactions in some cases with the cooperation of polymer-assisted solution-phases (PASP) technique. These comprise C-glycosyl dihydropyrimidines and dihydropyridines through Biginelli and Hantzsch cyclocondensations, C-glocosyl [beta]-amino acids through Mannich-and Reformatsky-type reactions, C-glycosyl [beta]-lactams through Staudinger reaction, and heterocyclic [alpha]-amino acids, glycine and alanine, through the Biginelli and Hantzsch reactions.

Fluorescent hybridization probes for sensitive and selective DNA and RNA detection

Article Abstract:

Different approaches are described for designing fluorescent hybridization sensors for sensitive and selective DNA and RNA detection. These sensors have served as switches in emission upon binding to target biomolecules and have allowed for ratiometric fluorescence detection of polynucleotides (PNs) by visualization of the probes when bound to a target PN.

Efficient total synthesis of novel bioactive microbial metabolites

Article Abstract:

The article discusses a new approach for the isolation and total synthesis of naturally occurring bioactive microbial metabolites that can be further used for the development of effective medicines. The pyripyropenes, arisugacins, macrosphelids and neoxaline are the recently developed and most effective microbial metabolites under discussion.
