Determination and distribution of diesel components in igneous rock surrounding underground diesel storage facilities in Sweden

Article Abstract:

Triple-tube core samples were taken from igneous rock surrounding underground storage tanks for diesel in Sweden. The small amount of alkanes in the samples is explained by the movement of diesel through hard rock microfractures. Preliminary investigations in which contamination was described as severe are invalidated by improved sampling and evaluating techniques.
