Dissolved trace metals in Lakes Superior, Erie, and Ontario

Article Abstract:

Spatial differences in the biological processes account for the low concentrations of many trace metals in the Great Lakes, despite the continued large inputs from anthropogenic sources. Among other factors that affect the distribution of dissolved trace metals are water depth and the abundance of suspended particulates, which rapidly scavenge the metals. No systematic increase in concentration is observed for these metals in the Great Lakes, except for Cr.

Speciation and lability of Zinc(II) in river waters

Article Abstract:

Researchers from The Netherlands discovered the presence of zinc(II) in samples taken from European river waters and is mostly present in the form of labile zinc(II) complexes which are bioavailable.
