Study of H(sub 2)S adsorption and water regeneration of spent coconut-based activated carbon

Article Abstract:

This study evaluates the capacity of coconut shell-based carbon that has undergone four cycles of adsorption/regeneration to act as hydrogen sulfide odor adsorbents at sewage treatment plants. The performance of the carbon after the four cycles is described, and the changes in the carbon's capacity are studied in relation to the sulfur.

Uranium precipitation in a permeable reactive barrier by progressive irreversible dissolution of zerovalent iron

Article Abstract:

Zerovalent iron permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) are tested in a controlled laboratory experiment for their treatment of uranium in groundwater. Zerovalent iron is found to reduce concentrations of uranium in groundwater to undetectable levels over longer residence times.

Effects of sulfur impregnation temperature on the properties and mercury adsorption capacities of activated carbon fibers (ACFs)

Article Abstract:

Raw activated microporous carbon fibers are saturated with elemental sulfur at temperatures ranging from 250 to 650 degrees Celsius in order to find the optimum temperature for sulfur impregnation on activated carbon fibers. Sulfur impregnation and mercury adsorption capacities are graphed.
