Accelerating perchlorate detection

Article Abstract:

Three researchers from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory developed new methods to detect perchlorate in groundwater and drinking water using a combinations of two quadrupole mass spectrometry. The device identifies perchlorate ions by converting them to gas then subjecting it to electric and magnetic fields.

Kinetics and mechanisms for TCE oxidation by permanganate

Article Abstract:

Researchers from The Ohio State University demonstrated the three sequential steps as to how permanganate oxidizes trichloroethylene (TCE). A short-lived cyclic hypomananganate ester gives way to carboxylic acids and eventually CO2.
