Experimental study of the sampling artifact of chloride depletion from collected sea salt aerosols

Article Abstract:

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Institute for Environment and Sustainable Development at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology studied the depletion of chloride in samples of collected sea salt particles taken from Clear Water Bay in Hong Kong. Particle-particle interactions were part of the cause of observed chloride depletion.

Leaching of toluene-neoprene adhesive wastes

Article Abstract:

Authors investigated the extraction of the solvent toluene from a polymer substrate in a leaching process. Knowledge of the leaching process will have important ramifications for landfill management. It was found that leaching is at first at a constant rate and secondly at a very slow rate, a phenomenon that is due to the behavior of the polymer.
