Fifth time around, as California pier reappears

Article Abstract:

The Huntington Beach Pier will be built for the fifth time through the combined efforts of the area's local officials and its business sector. The first pier was a timber structure built in 1904, but it was ravaged by storms in 1912. City officials in collaboration with the private sector are planning to build a new structure similar to the original 1904 pier. The structure will be taller and will acquire technologically advanced features such as anti-corrosive epoxy-coated reinforcing steel. The total project cost is estimated at 12.5 million dollars.
