Riding high

Article Abstract:

Aspecial scheme has been set up for children with learning disabilities at the Prudhoe Hospital in Northumberland. The Riding ward is an in-patient unit designed to assess and treat 14 young people aged up to 19 years. It is staffed by 22 full-time equivalent nursing staff together with a comprehensive support team including social workers and occupational therapists. Nurses form the links between home and hospital and are continually involved in all aspects of care and counselling. Staff also treat out-patients with similar needs and the ward is seen as a focus for many families.

Article Abstract:

Performance-based fire protection allows protection engineers to quantitatively estimate the size and breadth of a fire based on a structure's features. Performance-based fire protection integrates a number of design parameters applied to a building's design process, including calculation methods and computer model simulations. Protection engineers apply performance-based fire protecting engineering using model code equivalency provisions.
