Greener market place means cleaner world

Article Abstract:

Green Seal is the only environmental labeling program in the US that grants ecolabels to manufacturers. Its selection process begins with the evaluation of the life cycles of products from the raw material to the disposal stages to determine the impact of each stage on the environment. Criteria are then developed for selecting products which have the least environmental impact. These products are allowed to carry the program's logo on their label.

Consumers look for the ecolabel

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers have begun capitalizing on the increased environmental awareness of consumers by offering products with environmental labels. Surveys show that about 75% of consumers chose products with environmental claims. However, the increased use of environmental claims has also led to complaints about misleading labels, creating the need to establish procedures to verify these claims.
