Researchers from Nottingham, UK collected stream water samples to test the presence of organic and sulfuric acid as a result of acid leaching from farmlands in midwestern Finland.

Plutonium partitioning to colloidal and particulate matter in an acidic sandy sediment: implications for remediation alternatives and plutonium migration

Article Abstract:

The following study undertakes the examination of plutonium partitioning within a bulk, freshwater sediment and to specific size fractions of the sediment were determined. Observations are discussed with relation to various remediation options feasibility.
