Indian airport goes green

Article Abstract:

The designers of a new terminal at Chennai International Airport want to be the first Indian airport to be certified by the U.S Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system. The new terminal is H shaped and is divided into two main parts for both passenger services or aircraft operations and serves as a prototype for the other terminals to be built later.

Antarctic station runs on renewable energy

Article Abstract:

A planned $14.7 million Belgian research station in Antarctica will be the first Antarctic research base to be powered solely on renewable energy sources. The station is also Belgium's first Antarctic outpost in 40 years and will get its power from eight wind turbines that produce 48 kW and solar panels that add another 50.6 kW.

Curtains of water form expo pavilion walls

Article Abstract:

The Digital Water Pavilion, located near the entrance to Expo Zaragoza 2008, has perimeter walls and partitions made up of thin curtains of falling water. The 400-square-meter structure, designed by carlorattiassociatti, will have two enclosures.
