Industry group assails climate chapter

The Global Climate Coalition (GCA) has criticized the revisions to Chapter 8 of a report by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The GCA charged that the IPCC removed sections that indicated uncertainties about human impact on global warming.

Labs take aim at rapid-fire lasers for fusion power

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA, and the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, are racing to create a high power and extremely fast laser capable of inertial confinement fusion using a hydrogen pellet. Both report significant advances.
