Interfacial structure and micro and nano-mechanical behavior of laser-welded 6061 aluminum alloy blank

Article Abstract:

A triboscope, an instrument combining an atomic force microscope (AFM) with a nano-mechanical tester, is utilized to investigate the microstructure and the failure mechanism of the laser-welded blank. The tensile tests show that the 6061 aluminum alloy tailor-welded blank exhibits lower strength and ductility than the base alloy, and the failure occurs at the partially melted zone during tensile testing.

Creep behavior of Al-Si die-cast alloys

Article Abstract:

Commercial, aluminum die-cast alloys are subject to long-term stresses, which lead to vis-coelastic material responses resulting in inefficient engine operation and failure. Constant load creep tests are studied for one eutectic and two hypereutectic Al-Si alloys. Time-temperature superposition with an assumed an independent Qc are used to calculate activation energies.

Modeling cold-rolling processes of commercial twin roll cast aluminum alloys

Article Abstract:

Primary rolling operations of twin-roll cast commercial aluminum alloys can be designed more efficiently on the basis of maintaining a constant rolling load throughout the rolling program. The rolling pass design could have clear advantages in terms of the productivity of the mill, quality of the rolled products and extension of the rolls life.
