Stereos, cordless phones, mini-vacuums, answering machines, cable boxes, TVs and VCRs can draw power even when switched off. To prevent wasting electricity, appliances can be plugged into a power strip and turned off. A switch can also be installed in outlets or the appliances can be unplugged.

Full-color, three-dimensional holograms have been designed by Tung Jeong and Hans Bjelkhagen of Lake Forest College, IL. The process involved hardening emulsions and bleaching which increased the resolution capacity from the usual 3,000 to 10,000 lines per millimeter.
